Amanda entered the design world through graphic design but found her passion through community organizing. She believes design is a way to bridge communities and perspectives, and contains the potential to recreate systems. In her time at university, Amanda worked with like-minded community members to create a political group for Asian and Pacific Island students that promotes civic engagement and community building. Her work focuses on helping community members step into their own power as civic leaders, both by centering historically underrepresented voices and by deconstructing privilege. Last year, Amanda won the Gloria Anzaldúa Advocacy at Intersections Awards for her work at the intersections of the LGBTQIA+ and Asian-American communities. She aims to use her passion for equity-centered design to make design accessible to all and center the voices of living experts.
